When and where will the conference take place?The FCIC’24 conference will take place between the 29th of January and the 2nd of February 2024, mainly at Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto (Portugal). Will there be networking opportunities at the conference?All participants will have diverse networking opportunities to meet and connect with other attendees. These include coffee breaks, poster sessions, and the official conference dinner.

Who can attend the conference?The FCIC’24 conference is open to anyone who is interested in the topic or theme of the conference. This includes professionals, academics, researchers, students, and enthusiasts. It is not reserved solely for participants coming from State Parties to the Faro Convention, but to any person interested in, and/or doing research on topics which relate to the conference’s focus. How do I register for the conference?The registration period will open on the 8th of November 2023. You can register for the FCIC’24 conference on the conference website, by following the instructions provided. To do so, please check the link: https://www.fcic24.com/registration. Please be aware that any registration will be considered valid only after the payment of the fees has been confirmed. As the payment method is via bank transfer, it is mandatory that you refer to the conference code in the bank transfer description field. Please, be aware that the FCIC'24 Organising Committee will not take responsibility for any fees charged for international bank transfers.

Is there a registration fee for the conference?There is a registration fee for the FCIC’24 conference. The fee varies depending on the type of registration you choose (e.g., early bird, regular, student, etc). Please be aware that any registration will be considered valid only after the payment of the fees has been confirmed. Is there any type of discount on registration fees for the conference?We are considering a discount fee for students, accompanying persons, and local NGOs, untill a limit of 50 registrations. The requirements for the discount fee are as follow: For students: a proof of enrollment in your educational instituion. For Accompanying persons: the name of the author that you will be accompanying. For local NGOs: a proof that the candidate is one of the representative members of the NGO. Please be aware that the organizing committee will only consider any registration under this umbrella as valid once the documentation and the payment of the fee, are confirmed by the organizing committee. Also, be aware that by the 50 registration discount it will rule the first presenting a valid registration / the first getting the discount. What is included in the conference fees?The conference fees include: Tote bag; Lunches and Coffee Breaks (30/1-01/02); Welcome reception (29/01); Access to the Exhibitions, Workshops and Conference Sessions; Technical visits; Papers/Posters/Abstracts Proceedings publication. Remember: travel and accommodation, official dinner and related activities are not included in the conference fees. How do I pay the conference fees?All participants must pay their registration (conference fees) for the Faro Convention International Conference 2024 by bank transfer. Bank details will become available once the participants fill the registration form. To find this form and additional information about the conference fees, please refer to https://www.fcic24.com/registration. With this payment method, it is mandatory that you refer to the conference code in the bank transfer description field. Is there any support for travel and accomodation expenses?We are aware of and understand that travel expenses might be a problem for some participants. Unfortunately, the FCIC’24 conference organizing committee is not in a position to offer financial support to the candidates. We recommend that all candidates confirm with their institutions the available support programs to support conference attendance.

What type of submissions are available? How do they differ?Candidates can submit their proposals via these links: https://www.fcic24.com/call-for-authors; https://www.fcic24.com/call-for-workshop-proposals. Each participant will have the opportunity to submit more than one abstract, either it is for a paper/poster presentation, or a workshop. All proposals will be reviewed by the scientific committee. With regards to paper/poster presentations, the scientific committee will have the final call as to which abstracts should become an oral presentation or a poster presentation. This rule will not apply to workshop proposals. Independent from being an oral presentation (paper a poster), or a workshop, candidates must submit a full paper (manuscript) after the conference. Can I submit a paper/poster and a workshop proposal?Candidates are encouraged to send any type of proposal they might see as fit for the conference topic and themes. This includes both paper/poster proposals and workshop proposals, simultaneously. Can I be author or co-author of more than one abstract (paper/poster)?Candidates can be authors/co-authors of more than one paper/poster proposals. In case both abstracts get accepted in the conference, the organizing committee might suggest changing the presenting authors in some proposals, later on, in order to avoid repetition within session panels. What happens if I send more than one abstract (paper/poster) proposal as main author author?Candidates are encouraged to send any type of proposal they might see as fit for the conference topic and themes. What is the registration procedure for workshop participants?The registration for someone attending the workshops follows the exact same guidelines as any other participant (for registration and payment). Someone participating in the FCIC'24 conference will have access to the 'full package', and will be free to decide what sessions and workshops to attend. In the FCIC’24 conference there will be no distinction between session participants and workshop participants. So, workshop participants or session participants are the same.

How many workshop participants are to be expected?We have not set a limit on the number of participants per workshop because it is highly dependent on the type of workshop candidates are preparing. Instead, the FCIC’24 organizing committee will take the inverse approach: we will organize the program and distribute the workshops in the available rooms depending on the nature of the workshops we have. What we suggest is that candidates send their estimated number of participants, and if something needs to be adjusted, later on, with regards with the number of participants, we will let you know and make our suggestions.

The deadline for submitting proposals is the 15th of August 2023. Does this mean I must send my paper/poster by this date?No. The deadline for submitting the proposals only refers to the abstracts submissions. The presentation of posters, and the submission of the final papers have a different deadlines. Is the FCIC’24 conference an indexed event?The FCIC'24 committee is working on and evaluating the possibility of having papers published in an indexed journal. Until more information on this matter becomes available, we suggest all candidates to send their paper/poster and workshop proposal/s. As soon as we have more details about this topic we will share them with the FCIC’24 community, right away.
